From Japan Today:

No. of expo visitors tops 5 million

NAGOYA — The number of visitors to the World Exposition in Aichi Prefecture surpassed the 5 million mark Monday morning, at a faster clip than the organizers’ anticipated, the Japan Association for World Exposition 2005 said.

The number is one-third of the 15 million visitors the association has set as the goal for the total number of visitors to the expo, which runs from March 25 to Sept 25. (Kyodo News)

Bastards. I’ll never live down missing this thing. It still sucks though, right?

      Right.

Just came back from the Expo last night…I had planned two days there, but after an hour it was clearly evident that this whole thing is a huge waste my time and money. If you enjoy being pressed into a jam packed Osaka or Tokyo subway car for an entire day and being charged for it, then this is the event for you.

The exhibits are underwhelming to say the least. The exhibit for Bulgaria, for example, was a few cups of yogurt and a poster telling us how healthy yogurt is. They must’ve spent millions on this one. The Japanese exhibits fared no better. The JR exhibit was a 3D movie of a Maglev train going back and forth making whooshing noises for 10 minutes. The only good thing about that one was the chance to catch a few Z’s in a dark theatre.

If you’re thinking of a trip to the Aichi World’s Fair/Expo my advice is save your money. This fair sucks!
