  1. Why is environmentalism eligible for the Nobel Peace Prize? Is being green the same as being peaceful?

  2. Okay, I looked at the article: “seen as critical to maintaining social stability.” But still…. Nor is this remotely proven – wars have happened since long before global warming (I feel like the chairman of Itchy and Scratchy saying there was “violence long before cartoons”…). There’s a lot of “may” in the decision. Is the Nobel about peace or about social engineering?

Even if Gore doesn’t run, I believe there is a provision to elect a president by a massive write-in vote. That might be an idea actually, since I think it is foolhardy to elect someone who actually wants the job.

  3. When his son got busted by driving hundred miles per hour on a freeway with a pack of marijuana on the dashboard and the car happened to be nothing-but a Toyota Prius, our office thought we could do a report on hybrid craze among the beautiful people in America.Somehow for the reasons beyond me, the story died before it got materialized and No, DENTSU has nothing to do with that….

I was watching NHK’s “Eigo De Shabel-a-night” couple of months ago and there he was interviewed by your friendly gaijin,Pakkun the Harvadian and exchanging protocols with each others.
Gore had read resume of Pakkun beforehand and praised him for having”enviable career in Japanese show business”.I’m very curious of what exactly was written on that resume of his….

  4. I assume you’ve all seen his “presidential speech” from Saturday Night Live?

If Al Gore had this sort of sense of humor back in 2000, Bush would never have become president. And the main reason why I would support a Gore candidacy is that he seems unlikely to let consultants control everything he says on the campaign trail (which is the case with all the candidates running nowadays: you can basically see the spinsters shoveling one-liners into Hillary’s back). Not to mention that Gore readily admits how dumbed-down the level of political discourse and media coverage has become.

My best guess is that Congress would iron out his more radical ideas on saving the environment, and the two sides would eventually reach a nice compromise between “liberal” and “conservative” policy, much like what we had in the late 90s.

And that’s not bad for both Gore and his cause, for he can influence both camps with out making the issue polarized just like every political life in America has been facing in the recent years of which Gore is partially responsible of.
